The Carlyle, Rosewood Residences

Overview

The Carlyle comes to Dubai.

The Carlyle has stood on Madison Avenue since 1930 and remains one of New York’s enduring institutions — a residential hotel first, with apartments held by the same families for decades. Rosewood brings that name to DIFC, at the centre of a new ultra-prime campus: Four Seasons Private Residences next door, Eden House branded offices behind, triple-A retail, members’ clubs and dining at ground level, and a bridge connection through to Janu by Aman.

Interiors

Tristan Auer’s rooms: veined marble, bronze, hand-finished wood.

Kitchen and dining read as one gallery; bedrooms sit behind panelled joinery; bathrooms are cut from single-quarry stone. The six-bedroom duplex penthouse adds a walk-in dressing suite and a private wellness floor — marble pool, spa and gym reserved for that residence alone.

Architecture

David Chipperfield Architects, with interiors by Tristan Auer.

A 32-storey mixed-use tower holding 40 apartments, developed by H&H. Chipperfield’s work is known for placing modern, minimal building alongside historic fabric — here it is restrained on the street and interior-led, a residential-hotel plan with a deliberately limited apartment count. The campus places the residential buildings, the offices and the retail and club levels on one connected footprint, with the bridge to Janu by Aman tying it into the wider DIFC network. Next door, the same architect is delivering Four Seasons Private Residences Dubai at DIFC.

Tristan Auer, from Paris, holds the interiors, following his work at Hôtel de Crillon and Carlton Cannes. Veined marble, bronze fixtures and hand-finished wood carry The Carlyle’s Madison Avenue character into a Dubai plan. At the top, a six-bedroom duplex penthouse with its own wellness floor — marble pool, spa and gym reserved for that residence.
